Father's Day is a celebration of fathers inaugurated in the early twentieth century to complement Mother's Day in celebrating fatherhood and male parenting. Father's Day is celebrated on a variety of dates worldwide and typically involves gift-giving, special dinners to fathers, and family-oriented activities.

The first observance of Father's Day actually took place in Fairmont, West Virginia on July 5, 1908. It was organized by Mrs. Grace Golden Clayton, who wanted to celebrate the lives of the 210 fathers who had been lost in the Monongah Mining disaster several months earlier in Monongah, West Virginia, on December 6, 1907. It's possible that Clayton was influenced by the first celebration of Mother's Day that same year, just a few miles away. Clayton chose the Sunday nearest to the birthday of her recently deceased father.

國民黨黨史館主任邵銘煌介紹，這份因權宜之計而來的出生證明指出，孫中山是1870年11月24日出生于夏威夷的茂宜島；“11月24日”是興中會成立日， 以此與革命作連結；他強調，這個出生證明，是為了革命採取的“非常手段”，無法改變孫中山1886年11月12日出生于廣東省中山縣翠亨村的事實。

 　　有趣的是，美國在臺協會7月將展出的“孫中山與美國”特展，也將出示來自美國國家檔案局的歷史文件，證明孫中山確實擁有美國籍。據載，孫中山4歲時舉家遷至中國，十年後再返夏威夷，就讀于歐胡學院(現稱普納荷中學)，也是美國總統奧巴馬的母校。

Due to the radiation scare as results of the Tsunami in Japan, which damaged its nuclear plants and some people were misinformed and start hoarding salt for future consumption as precautions. Below are warnings, excerpts from WHO (World Health Organization) 

Should I take iodized salt to protect myself from radiation?

• No, you should not take iodized salt to protect yourself from radiation. It is dangerous to take large amounts of iodized salt in order to increase the amount of stable iodine in the body.
• Increasing one's daily intake of iodized salt will cause more harm than good. The main ingredient of iodized salt is sodium chloride, which is linked with hypertension (high blood pressure) and other medical disorders. The iodine content in iodized salt is too low to prevent uptake of radioiodine.
• Sodium chloride is acutely toxic in large amounts: even tablespoon quantities of salt repeatedly taken over a short period of time could cause poisoning.

Tsunami 海嘯

My condolences to the victims of the tsunami in Japan. Let us extend our compassion to the survivors of the tragedy and help them to rebuild. In the meantime, let us calmly pay attention to the dangers of the radiation.

讓我們哀悼在日本海嘯的受害者,幫助他們重建家園。同時，讓我們冷靜地注意輻射的危險。

There have been many historical records about great earthquakes and tsunamis in Japan but probably only about 100 years some photo records existed. Without further researches, I think early Tsunamis were captured and recorded on a woodblock print, The Great Wave off Kanagawa (神奈川沖浪裏, Kanagawa Oki Nami Ura?, lit. "Under a Wave off Kanagawa"), also known as The Great Wave or simply The Wave, i , by an artist, Katsushika Hokusai, circa  1829–32.
